Steve Ross and Karen Murphy perform at NYC's Don't Tell Mama.

Mason’s sound was bright, Rosen was cottony.

A cast of seven theater professionals (a mix of veterans and new faces) did all they could with the thin but over-complicated script.

This was smart theater, perfectly suited to the performer’s talent.

This assemblage of standards is tasty and tasteful, funny and moving, revelatory and comforting.

Jazz feel is savory, appreciation infectious, but tonight's results are uneven.
