Vivienne LaBarbera: Starr Struck with Kay Starr

LaBarbera brought a bouncy personality and a big voice to the stage.

She was vulnerable and resilient, homespun and polished, coltish and wise, grounded and spiritual, and always authentic.

This, their first CD together, is a testament to how their union benefits everyone who loves thoughtful interpretations of beautiful songs.

She still floated high head notes and sang with a sharp, articulate tone and confidence.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Abernathy’s beautiful resonant tenor; its warm timbre added luster to each of his offerings.

Stark’s voice was strong and perfect; she blew me away.

A first-rate cabaret show.

For lovers of the Great American Songbook, there can be no better way to spend an hour than with two masterful interpreters of that canon.

McBroom was in splendid voice. Her authenticity and emotional shading kept the sold-out venue in thrall.

An incredibly witty, beautifully paced show.
