Guy Bosworth’s show Born on Broadway! illustrates the many twists and turns life can bring—even up to hours before a show. He opened with Ruthless’ “Born to Entertain,” which set the theme for the evening. After that, entertain he did; he recreated his childhood debut of “Dear Santa, Have You Had the Measles?” and went on through youthful performance experiences, He sang a rare Stephen Flaherty song, “Whar Is My Man?” that he got from the songwriter when they were doing summer stock together. Even when life took him in other directions, Bosworth still found a way to imbue his activities with a theatrical flair. His rendition of the requisite flight-attendant evacuation orders set to the melody of “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” was particularly charming.
Bosworth portrayed infectious good
spirits in his versions of “Sing Happy” and “Tap Your Troubles Away.” He has a
ringing baritone which he showed to good effect in “First You Dream” and a lovely
arrangement of “Where Is Love?,” “The Man I Love,” and “I Won’t Send Roses.

” Because of a hazard of our era, Jeff Hamlin, Bosworth’s music director/pianist, fell ill with Covid hours before the show. Howard Breitbart ably filled in, and he and Bosworth collaborated valiantly and nearly seamlessly.
