Artists in Partnership Cabaret Festival May 21 & 22

Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its Annual Cabaret Festival, May 21-22 at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY.  All performances are free to the public.

The festival will be a celebration of the cabaret genre honoring the Great American Songbook with performances by renowned local and New York City-based artists. This year’s theme is “Lyrics: A Way with Words.”

“It’s all about the stories, the conversations and the poetry that reach out and touch our hearts when you listen to these timeless classics,” said Susan James, one of the event organizers and facilitators.

Cabaret Conversations: Inside the American Songbook 

Established artists will perform classics and original songs and participate and comment on the cabaret genre as they honor the Great American songs and the songwriters. Special guests will include Barry Kleinbort, musical director, composer and lyricist; Aaron Lee Battle, actor and vocalist; Claudine Cassan-Jellison, 2022 Bistro Award winner for her cabaret “Hey, Frenchy;” Hechter Ubarry, actor and vocalist, and David Gaines, accompanist.

Kander and Ebb … And All That Jazz

KAREN MASON who has headlined at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and has shared concert stages with Michael Feinstein, Chita Rivera and Luciano Pavarotti will be the featured performer with Christopher Denny on piano. She is a 14-time MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) Award winner and the recipient of the 2019 MAC Lifetime Achievement Award and won the MAC Award for Major Female Vocalist of the Year for six consecutive years. She most recently played Mrs. Marsh opposite Ewan McGregor on the Ryan Murphy Netflix hit series Halston.

Gentlemen of Jazz

AARON LEE BATTLE performs with Jono Mainelli on piano.  Vocalist Aaron Lee Battle will perform classic jazz, accompanied by Jono Mainelli. Battle is a Backstage Bistro Award winner for Outstanding Vocalist and is the recipient of this year’s MAC Hanson Award.

Schedule is subject to change. This event is made possible with public funds from the Long Beach Public Library and corporate support from Joe Russo, East Coast Capital and Cheers@7. The library is handicapped accessible, located two blocks from the LIRR station in Long Beach and is a 50-minute train ride from New York City’s Penn Station. Schedule is subject to change.
