The Songstas reveled as Arlene Armstrong, Cathy Glickman, Amy Lechelt, Beckie Menzie, Anna Palermo, and Patricia Salinski blended their talents in a joyful celebration of gal pals. Highlights included Armstrong’s “Baltimore Oriole,” delivered with sensitive balance between regret and hope. Glickman gave us a perfectly-timed double take in response to Lechelt’s blue (perhaps too blue) joke. Lechelt offered an impassioned take on “Forgiveness”; she’s making strides as a vocalist discovering sweet-spot keys in her lower register. Music director Menzie offered a sensual “Me and Bobby McGee,” preceded by a few, bluesy harmonica riffs that set the tone.
Speaking of sensual, Palermo delivered that in “The Black, Black Widow,” but she might also want to explore the wit that underlies the lyric.

Her and Glickman’s pop duet, “Tell Him,” was a beautifully sung imperative.

When the ladies joined forces in sassy group numbers, such as their opening parody of “Sisters” and “Friendship,” their loving camaraderie was palpable. However, ending the show with an in-your-face delivery of “These Boots Are Made for Walking” with the words “these boots are gonna walk all over you!
