André De Shields was presented the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award by his friend, famed choreographer George Faison, and then proceeded to bring down the house with his rousing closing set. He was backed by music director Larry Spivak and singers Marléne Danielle and Freida Williams, with an impromptu assist from Peter & Will Anderson. The evening began with jazz great Sheila Jordan, who was honored for her outstanding contributions to jazz.

Recipients in all categories presented selections from the shows for which they were being honored.

For the revue It Helps to Sing About It: Songs of Ben Schaechter and Dan Kael, Joshua Lance Dixon and Celia Berk each sang a number by the songwriters. Jeff Harnar, who was honored for his direction of a number of performers, chose Dawn Derow to represent his work on her My Ship: Songs of 1941.

The Bistro Award Committee—Gerry Geddes, Roy Sander (also Associate Producer), Robert Windeler, and Mark Dundas Woods—also served as presenters. Wendy Lane Bailey served as Assistant Producer. The house band was Daryl Kojak (MD/piano), Rex Benincasa (percussion), and Ritt Henn (bass).
