The cabaret/jazz world has lost one of its shining lights. Marlene VerPlanck passed away yesterday.

She graced the airwaves and recordings with her signature smooth style, recorded demos for Frank Loesser, did commercials for Campbell Soup and many others, and sang backup for everyone from Frank Sinatra to Kiss.
