The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) will honor “The Queen of Cabaret,” the legendary Julie Wilson (1924-2015) in an afternoon of songs and stories. Julie was the epitome of everything that cabaret should be. She was a stalwart cheerleader of the art form and its practitioners. She starred on Broadway (nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Legs Diamond and also appeared in Park; Jimmy; The Girl in the Freudian Slip; Kismet; The Pajama Game), the West End (Kiss Me, Kate; Bells Are Ringing; South Pacific) and appeared in a number of movies and television shows (Kiss Me, Kate; Kraft Theatre; The Phil Silvers Show) and released many recordings, including live sets (Live from the Russian Tea Room; Julie Wilson at the St. Regis) as well as studio albums such as My Old Flame and numerous ones collecting the work of songwriters (Cy Coleman; Kurt Weill; Harold Arlen; Stephen Sondheim).
On Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 3:00 pm, Julie will be remembered at a special event at New York City’s legendary cabaret venue Don’t Tell Mama.
