How DO you get to Broadway? Steven Lutvak knows. It took 11 years to get A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder to open on Broadway, where it won the Tony for Best Musical. (Also the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Award for Best Musical, too.) And it’s about to begin its first national tour.

During those years, besides pushing the boulder up the hill to Musical Theater Success, Steven Lutvak sang his songs in cabaret rooms across the country, from the Gardenia in Los Angeles all the way to The Russian Tea Room in New York and even, and especially, Carnegie Hall.

He won tons of Awards: The Johnny Mercer Emerging Songwriter Award, two Jonathan Larson Grants, even a grant from the NEA. He wrote the title track to Paramount’s hit film Mad Hot Ballroom and he wrote many musicals, which have been produced around the country.
But mostly, Steven sang his songs.
Come hear the man who was behind the Broadway hit A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder sing his songs, and let you in on the fascinating backstory and incredible journey of the making of a Tony Award-winning musical.
