Stars of Broadway and Cabaret came out to salute award-winning cabaret performer and Tony Award-winning producer Jamie deRoy when she celebrated the 25th anniversary of her Multi MAC award-winning Variety Show Jamie deRoy & friends, and her “40th annual 30th Birthday.” Proceeds from the evening benefited The Actors Fund’s new program, The Jamie deRoy & friends Cabaret Initiative. The program was created to assist people working in the cabaret industry who seek help for medical needs and concerns made available through the comprehensive services and programs at The Actors Fund.
The evening was directed by Barry Kleinbort, and Ron Abel served as musical director for the band. On hand to salute Jamie and entertain the crowd were Broadway stars Robert Cuccioli, Michele Lee, Luba Mason, Brian Stokes Mitchell (who was a surprise guest!), comedienne Joy Behar, ventriloquist Jay Johnson, singer-songwriter Larry Gatlin, and British violinist Daisy Joplin.
Jamie deRoy & friends, the colorful cabaret series, has been thrilling New York City audiences for the past 25 years and serves as the basis for deRoy‘s award-winning cable television show. The series spotlights a wide variety of well-known entertainers and newcomers lighting up the worlds of cabaret, theater, music and comedy.
