Too-Blondes-Cabaret-SCenes-Magazine_212Here’s Les Traub’s review of Savannah & Chase from 2015:

The Too Blondes, Savannah Brown (left) and Chase O’Donnell, have put together a wonderfully original and highly entertaining evening that is like a breath of fresh air in a world of standard theme shows. Although the concept harkens back to ’50s and ’60s comedy and music duo sketch shows, these Too Blondes have taken a sketch premise, infused it with energy, original songs, and a brilliantly delivered dance sequence that covers just about every type of dance that one could imagine.

The basic premise is a miscommunication between the two of them as to what the “theme” of the show is.

Chase O’Donnell is presenting a show called Life in Our Twenties. Savannah Brown, the “dumb” blonde, but not really so dumb, is doing the show Life in The ‘Twenties. This mismatch continues with hilarious results throughout the whole show. Savannah is the flapper singing “I Wanna Be Loved by You” while Chase is singing the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe.” There is also a conflict as to art versus fame, a feminist number that might actually be an anti-feminist number and a funny audition sequence in which the Too Blondes are auditioning for roles in a white edition of The Supremes.

These immensely talented, lovely young ladies are in the “don’t miss” category. Chase O’Donnell takes writing credit and Savannah Brown is the director. Even during the scripted evening, there was some spontaneous interaction with the audience, with the ladies still in character.

Pianist Jack Lipson learned the whole show the night before, but carried it off without a hitch.
