To the friends, fans and supporters of Russ Weatherford and his play Blacker—it saddens me to say that, because of Russ’s medical condition, we find it necessary to have to cancel the production that was to begin on 8/26 at Urban Stages. This is one of the most difficult things I have had to do.

We had a devoted, professional and very talented cast working with our wonderful director David Austin. Thanks to so many who have been supporters of this project. Because of a health setback for Russ, Eric Rudy, who was playing Oscar Wilde and designing the sets and costumes, will not be able to fulfill his responsibilities to the production.

“It’s very sad,” said Durell, “but Eric’s number one priority is being able to assist Russ in getting better.  As important as this play is to all of us, especially Russ, Eric is not hesitating to support his partner.  Eric, Russ and I are deeply grateful to this talented, dedicated cast and to our director, for handling these challenges with us.
