Broadway Blockbusters starred four extraordinary Palm Springs singers—Eric Scott Romney, Tod Macofsky, Kari Kirkland, and Francesca Amari—who performed songs from Broadway that included the best of George Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin, and Jerry Herman, and others.
The opening number was a grand version of “Oklahoma!” that got things off to a smashing start.

Well performed and articulate arrangements were played by the one and only Wayne Abravanel at the piano. He also performed several vocal solo’s, including “I Got Rhythm,” (Girl Crazy), and providing excellent back-up for all the singers.
The many famous songs performed included Amari’s “Broadway Baby” (Follies), Macofsky’s “Being Alive” (Company), Kirkland’s “I Enjoy Being a Girl” (Flower Drum Song) and “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” (Oklahoma!), and Romney’s comedy highlight with “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” (Monty Python’s Spamalot).
A solid “Before the Parade Passes By” (Hello, Dolly!) was performed by Macofsky and a lovely “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” (Evita) was performed by Amari. There was also a specialty number starring the entire cast, a very funny “Gotta Have a Gimmick” (Gypsy). The show ended with a beautiful version of “Lullaby of Broadway” (from the film Gold Diggers of 1935).
Michael Fietsam, owner and operator of the club, conceived, wrote, and directed Broadway Blockbusters. Co-owner and chef David Horgen supplied another luscious dinner.
