International Cabaret Festival
February 17-21, 2016
New York City
A Fundraising Event for Cabaret Scenes
Mark your calendars! Cabaret Scenes presents the first International Cabaret Festival February 17-21 at clubs across NYC. A portion of the cover charges and sale of “Passports” (see below) will go to help Cabaret Scenes continue in its efforts to promote cabaret.
Clubs participating in the Festival are Don’t Tell Mama, The Duplex, Feinstein’s/54 Below, Iridium, Joe’s Pub, Metropolitan Room and The Triad, with dozens of performers appearing throughout the five days.
The opening night Gala, February 17, open to the public, will be held at the Metropolitan Room at 7 pm. There is a $24 cover and 2-drink minimum for reservations made by January 31. On February 1, the cover increases to $45, with a 2-drink minimum. Expect performances by Anita Gillette as well as by Hall of Fame inductees Barbara Carroll, Andrea Marcovicci and Steve Ross.
Cabaret Hall of Fame
Another highlight of the Gala will be the induction of members into the newly-formed Cabaret Hall of Fame. The brainchild of Bernie Furshpan and Joseph Macchia, the Hall of Fame’s goal is to preserve the history and contributions of those who have established and fulfilled the promise of live entertainment in a cabaret setting and have brought joy to millions over the many years of its existence. In the works is establishing a cabaret section at the Library of Congress and a traveling display of memorabilia of all things cabaret. For example, one of Julie Wilson’s boas! The 2016 inductees are Barbara Carroll, Andrea Marcovicci, Marilyn Maye and Steve Ross, as well as Nancy LaMott, Bobby Short, Jan Wallman and Julie Wilson. Performances and video clips will be part of the Hall of Fame ceremony.
Festival Passport
We are offering a “Passport” to the Festival, which will give you a $5 discount off the cover of any Festival show. The cost is $10 for one Passport; $15 for two. It looks just like a passport used to travel between countries (but there are no security checkpoints or body scans!), and includes the complete Festival schedule, information on all of the participating clubs, and even pages for you to get a stamp from the clubs you attend. A nice keepsake!
To purchase the Passport using a credit card, click HERE to use our PayPal account. In the “Purpose” section, please enter “Festival Passport.”
If you wish to pay by check, please send your check for receipt no later than February 11, payable to Cabaret Scenes Ltd., to:
