Geoffrey Leigh Tozer, Keri Kelsey &
David Lucky

Tom Rolla's Gardenia
West Hollywood, CA
Let me tell you about two cool cats and a hot chick. A square named Geoffrey Leigh Tozer slips into the hip persona of the Sly Crooner of Swanktown when he crowns his head with that stylish white fedora. David Lucky hangs onto his moniker because how much more hip can a name be? You know the type of chick these hipsters go for: lyrically blonde and Keri Kelsey fits that description as tightly as those tight threads she’s wearing. She starts things off capturing the lyrics of the Tozer breakup tune, “Got to Find My Heart,” and delivering them like a dagger to the heart.

The Sly Crooner takes over, and recites a tale about “The Cat Who Saw and Heard,” and punctuates it with his imaginative original songs accompanying himself on the black and whites. The evening turns into L.A. noir cabaret with songs like “Kinda Wasted” and “Baby, I’m Strange for You.”

David Lucky’s wonderful original songs play with words in the style of Tom Lehrer and Dave Frishberg. Also accompanying himself, he opens with the clever “Kill ’em With Kindness.” His song “Blue” places that word in every imaginable context. A delightful entertainer, Lucky also can lend his name to those who were present to hear him and his fellow hipsters.
