Deb Berman

Such a lot of Livin'

Metropolitan Room
New York, NY
Music Industry veteran Deb Berman played to a welcoming Metropolitan Room audience as she sang and reminisced about listening to music at various stages in her life. Ms. Berman has a strong, throaty voice, which embellished “Small Day Tomorrow” and “The Very Thought of You.”  Her renditions ranged from pensive to lively, and were delivered with equal passion.  “Yesterdays” was sung to a person, not the audience. “Centerpiece” was an enthusiastic jazz number. “But Not For Me” and “Photograph” were poignant; "One Note Samba” and “Lot of Livin” a celebration. A delightful duet with guest vocalist Susan Winter, the novelty “Stay Away From Bill,” was a well-received offbeat melody that provided chuckles a-plenty. “I’ve Got A Lot of Livin’ To Do,” the show’s title song, was sung with profound feeling and the audience responded with a standing ovation.

Musical Director and pianist Barry Levitt, Victor Jones on drums and bassist Bill Moring were an excellent trio, playing Levitt’s imaginative arrangements with verve and skill.  David Colbert was the hand on lights and sound.

The evening was wholly entertaining and enjoyable. Such a Lot of Livin’ will be at the Metropolitan Room again on Sunday, June 22nd.
