Tony Adriacchin

Tony Andriacchi is respected as a “crooner.”  Yet, because Andriacchi’s interpretations are layered, he becomes not only a cabaret singer, but an excellent one. He honors phrasing. Andriacchi does not extend every ending note nor is he afraid of silence.

The challenge in a longer show is to bring variety to the presentation. “I’ve Got No Strings on Me”’ is from the film, Pinnochio. In the film, the tune is sung by a wooden puppet yearning to become a living boy. By Mr. Andriacchi, it takes on a new slant—a man of 42 fed up with romantic entanglements.  It’s different and fun.

Andriacchi ended the evening with “What a Wonderful World.”  His accompaniment is not the melody of the tune. Rather it is Pachelbel’s "Canon in D." Andriacci floats the song over the other—but never dissonant—melody.  The arrangement performed by Andriacchi becomes a personal reflection and is lovely
