Three of cabaret’s one-of-a-kind performers—singers Lina Koutrakos and Marcus Simeone and guitarist Sean Harkness—joined forces at Don’t Tell Mama for a rich evening of pop, blues, and jazz numbers.

Titled Clearly Now, the evening clearly shone with the trio’s pleasure in making music together as they moved easily through a dozen-plus songs—Koutrakos and Simeone provided solos and duos, all backed by Harkness, who also had several guitar solos. The three began by vocalizing together on “A Little Help from My Friends,” followed with turns at solos: Harkness on guitar with “My Favorite Things”; Koutrakos with her own song, “Mess Outta Love”; Simeone with Otis Redding’s “Nobody’s Fault but Mine”; and back to Harkness with “Toto”—all interspersed with good-natured bantering among the three performers.

Additional numbers included Simeone on “Ain’t No Way to Love Me” (Carolyn Franklin); Harkness with his own composition, “Nod to John” (great jazz guitarist,John Scofield, that is); and Koutrakos and Simeone together on “For Now”—another Koutrakos original. She also offered “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (Bono, The Edge, U2), and the singers joined again on “I’ll Never Love Again” and “Digging My Grave.

Was a great show and I enjoyed it. Love going out to the city every once in a while….but it is so expensive ! Lina, Marcus and Sean…great together ! I Must admit, Sean Harkness is the star off the trio and he is the one everyone is watching and comes to see and hear !

  2. Francine and friends

Loved the show and could not miss that of the trio, Sean Harness was the star and protagonist-extraordinaire. Very sexy and so handsome and a true delight to hear play his guitar and captivate the audience….a real winner !
