Brainchild of cabaret artist Hilary Ann Feldman, Acts Of Kindness Cabaret (AOK Cabaret), also with Caryn Caffarelli and Cynthia Clarey, offers cabaret programming, largely free of charge, as fundraisers for other not-for-profit groups. In that endeavor, to date it has raised over $300,000. The icing on their well-intentioned cake is that hundreds of new audience members enjoy their first foray into cabaret. That You Can’t Be Serious was performed at the Skokie Theatre and open to the public, offered an opportunity for fans to enjoy a thoroughly engaging cabaret.

Opening with a well-executed and well-harmonized “Comedy Tonight” set the tone for a show, with a strong emphasis on funny. Caffarelli’s delightful offering of “Dieter’s Prayer” (Amanda McBroom) captured the wit and the truth of longing for what all too often “lands on my hips.
