The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) will honor the legendary Jan Wallman (1922-2015) in an afternoon of songs and stories. Jan offered a step up the ladder to an odd assortment of hopefuls back in the day—Woody Allen, Dick Cavett, Bert Convy, Rodney Dangerfield, Robert Klein, George Segal, Marcia Lewis, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Joanne Worley, Linda Lavin, Joan Rivers and Barbra Streisand.

She was paid back with loyalty. She was at the helm of The Duplex and two establishments that bore her name: one on Cornelia Street and the other in the Iroquois Hotel on West 44th Street, both in Manhattan. She was among the cabaret owners, managers and booking agent who founded The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Club in 1983.

On Sunday, January 29 at 4:00 pm, Jan will be remembered at a special event at New York City’s legendary cabaret venue The Duplex. Scheduled to participate are Scott Barbarino, James Gavin, Richard Holbrook, Sidney Myer, Ricky Ritzel, Lennie Watts and Ronny Whyte. Additional participants TBA.

After the performances, a plaque dedicated to Jan will be unveiled in its permanent place in the entrance to The Duplex’s cabaret room.

Seating is limited. Tickets are $15 per person, which includes two drinks, and are only available through the MAC website at http://tinyurl.com/MACJanWallman
