AIP-arts-Cabaret-Scenes-Magazine_212Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its 14th Annual Cabaret Festival May 19-22 at the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY. The festival will be a celebration of the cabaret genre honoring the Great American Songbook. All performances are FREE to the public.

Featured events include:

THURSDAY, MAY 19, 2 pm
The World of Cabaret
Susan James explores the world of cabaret presenting videos of contemporary, Broadway, movie, and novelty material. The various approaches to the same song by different artists will be discussed.

THURSDAY, MAY 19, 7:30 pm
Songs and Singers in the Making
Aspiring singers Olivia DiResta, Anna Falvey, Mikayla Faria, and Max Tunney perform in a master class workshop with musical director Tedd Firth and cabaret critic Rob Lester.

FRIDAY, MAY 20, 8 pm
Marilyn in Fragments
2014 MAC Award winner Marissa Mulder presents songs,; Marilyn Monroe’s words. With Jon Weber at the piano.

SATURDAY, MAY 21, 2 pm
Cabaret Conversations: Inside the American Songbook
Established artists demonstrate and comment on the cabaret genre. Susan James  hosts the discussion with Rob Lester and cabaret artists Marissa Mulder, Kristoffer Lowe, Stacy Sullivan and Jon Weber s they perform classics of the genre.

Joplin to Jarrett. Jon Weber traces the development of jazz.

Stranger in a Dream: On the Air – Songs of Marian McPartland

8-time MAC Award winner, in the categories of Music Director, Piano Bar Entertainer, and Song of the Year Tracy Stark.

You’re Getting to Be a Habit With Me: The Songs of Harry Warren
2016 MAC Award Winner for Outstanding Male Artist Kristoffer Lowe with Tracy Stark at the piano

This event is made possible with public funds from the Long Beach Public Library and Nassau Country Legislator Denise Ford. The library is handicapped accessible, located two blocks from the LIRR station in Long Beach, a 50-minute train ride from New York City’s Penn Station.
