For some time now, Cabaret Scenes has had a segment on David Kenney’s weekly radio program Everything Old Is New Again on WBAI, 99.5 fm (WBAI.org; oldisnew.org) during which editor Frank Dain would discuss the latest issue of the magazine and play tracks from CDs of those featured in the issue.

Well, we are taking this one step further to present Everything Old Is New Again LIVE at the Metropolitan Room the first Sunday of each month. It’s like the old days of radio when Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra sang in front of a live studio audience while the show was broadcast. We won’t be broadcasting live, but the show will be taped and will air that night in David’s regular 9-11 pm time slot on WBAI 99.5 fm.

Each month, Frank will invite two or three people who are in the latest issue to have a brief chat and to perform. He’ll also discuss highlights of the cabaret scene. In addition, David will have his own guests who will entertain and with whom he will chat. The show will run 12:30-2:30 pm. There is a $20 cover and 2-drink minimum with proceeds going to support Cabaret Scenes Ltd.

On January 3, the Cabaret Scenes guests will be Celia Berk, Lina Koutrakos, Marilyn Maye and Billy Stritch and Daryl Sherman. (Marilyn has her usual January gig in the room 1/3, 7-10). David has invited Barbara Fasano & John di Martino (who’ll entertain with selections from Barbara’s new CD, Busy Being Free). David Hajdu, joined by Karen Oberlin & Michael Winther, singing songs from David’s CD, Waiting for the Angel, and Craig Pomranz.
