Cabaret-Convention-Cabaret-Scenes-Magazine_212The 26th Annual New York Cabaret Convention moves back to The Town Hall, where it all began, for one year only. (The Jazz at Lincoln Center space is undergoing a renovation.) The four-night event runs 10/13-16. Tuesday’s Gala Opening Night will be hosted by the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Artistic Director, KT Sullivan, and will include the presentation of the The Julie Wilson Award (underwritten by Linda and Peter Hanson) and The Mabel Mercer Award, which will be presented to Amanda McBroom. A Sentimental Journey: World War II Songs is Wednesday, hosted by Jeff Harnar and Andrea Marcovicci. The Donald F. Smith Award (underwritten by Adela & Larry Elow) and The Margaret Whiting Award (underwritten by My Ideal Music) will be presented. Karen Mason hosts Thursday’s Life Is a Cabaret: The Songs of Kander & Ebb. Friday is What I Did for Love/Taking a Chance on Love: The Music of Vernon Duke & Marvin Hamlisch and is hosted by Klea Blackhurst. Over 70 performers will appear, lending their voices to this annual autumn ritual.
