Cabaret-Cares-Cabaret-Scenes-Magazine_212Cabaret Cares kicks off its 2015-2016 fundraising season at Metropolitan Room on Friday, September 18th, with Living, Loving and Laughter, a benefit for Help Is on the Way Today and the third annual 40th birthday celebration for the founder, producer Joseph Macchia. This event will showcase a talent lineup of some of Macchia’s favorite performers including: Stacy Sullivan, Lennie Watts, Doreen Montalvo, Fran Leonardis, Ricky Ritzel, Beau Howard, Frank Dain, Chrysten Peddie, Bob Diamond, Tom Gamblin, Marissa Mulder, Beau Howard, Josephine Bianco, Marina Colonna, Marla Green, Meghan Jenkins, Michael Lewis Mejia, Vince Smith, Samara Ehrlich, Skie Ocasio, Stearns Matthews, Warren Schein, Dana Lorge. The evening will also mark the debut of a new theme song for Help Is on the Way Today, written by Dave August. The evening’s host will be Jay Rogers and the show will be directed by Gretchen Reinhagen with Tracy Stark as Musical Director. Doors open at 9PM and festivities begin at 9:30pm. Living, Loving and Laughter has a $20 cover charge and a two-drink minimum per person. 100% of each cover charge benefits Help Is on the Way Today. In addition, there will be a raffle, and donations are always appreciated.

Cabaret Cares is the MAC Award-winning, ongoing monthly cabaret series that benefits Help Is on the Way Today, a 501 c3 non-profit organization created by Macchia in 2005 that assists children and youth living with HIV and AIDS. Since that year the tiny organization has raised over $100,000 and assisted over 600 kids through camp scholarships, school backpack drives, toy drives, and immediate needs donations.

Some of the institutions that have benefited from Cabaret Cares/Help Is on the Way Today are: Harlem Hospital, Incarnation Children’s Center and Montefiore Hospital.

Once a month, Cabaret Cares presents a new show produced by Macchia featuring NYC performers. Past shows have featured Broadway show casts, up-and-coming talent and many veteran performers from the New York cabaret and theater communities.
