London-Festival-of-Cabaret-Cabaret-Scenes-Magazine_212The third LONDON FESTIVAL OF CABARET (LFoC) runs from April 28-May 11 featuring the song-focused review-style cabaret that has been making a notable resurgence in London the past few years.

In addition to an expanded and notable list of artists, three prominent venues have joined the festival as host locations.

The Delfont Room, The Sam Wanamaker Theatre at Shakespeare’s Globe and Wilton’s Music Hall have united with The Crazy Coqs, The Pheasantry, St. James Studio and Jermyn Street Theatre to offer a superb selection of unique cabaret and musical theater shows during the festival.

Amongst the roster of artists performing at the festival are Grammy award-winning singer Jack Jones, double Olivier Award-winning actress and singer Janie Dee, multi-award-winning Barb Jurgr, Anne Reid and Stefan Bednarczyk, West End Star Cynthia Erivo with composer Scott Alan, BBC award-winning jazz vocalist Ian Shaw, Kerry Ellis, Anita Harris, glamorously kitschy Nicky Haslam, dramatic Xara Vaughan and ex-Rat Pack singer Gary Williams.

Also included in the celebration is a master class by Liz Robertson, a performance workshop with Barb Jungr and Michael Roulston, and additionally the hugely popular Open Mic night at The Crazy Coqs every Thursday as part of LFoC.

Mychelle Colleary

Mychelle Colleary (native Californian, honorary New Yorker and now Londoner) graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from San Jose State University. Her first professional acting role was at 18 and she worked in theater for two years before attending University. As a jazz vocalist, Mychelle has performed internationally and has shared the stage with greats such as Carl Anderson, Clare Fischer and Bobby McFerrin. She currently divides her time between project management (design & communications) and being on a stage or in an audience. From musical theater to classical to folk rock to jazz to cabaret, Mychelle brings her collective professional experience and insight to reviewing.
