Two unique performers, who met in 2011 and have been singing together ever since, pooled their talents once again as Lorinda Lisitza and Ted Stafford—she with a knockout, pure soprano, harmonica and wry humor, he with guitar, back-up harmonies, easy tenor and steady style—brought a new edition of their quicksilvery Ted and Lo Show to Don’t Tell Mama early in February. Presenting songs that weren’t just pop or country or soul, but often combinations of them all at once, the pair created a mood both comfortable and spontaneous, and always riveting. Winners of a 2013 MAC Award for Outstanding Duo, the two freshened their reputation performing numbers from well-known writers (including McCartney’s “When I’m Sixty-Four,” Smokey Robinson’s “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me” and Elton John/Bernie Taupin’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”) as well as several songs of their own invention, including “Reassure Me” and the show’s title song. A perfect fit, in its intimacy, for DTM’s  small back room, the show’s quality and originality brought out a good gaggle of cabaret performers, musicians and arrangers, clearly enjoying the musicianship of Ted and Lo.
