Cheyenne-Jackson-Tilles-Center-Cabaret-Scenes-Magazine_212Cabaret, Broadway, TV, and film – Cheyenne Jackson has conquered them all. He brings his formidable talents to the Tilles Center. Here’s what Cabaret Scenes‘s Steve Murray said about Jackson’s show I’m Blue, Skies:

From Broadway to the small screen, Cheyenne Jackson is building quite the résumé. Add singer/songwriter to that list and he is a very capable triple threat. A tall drink of water with chiseled Adonis looks, Jackson works his charms into a self-revelatory autobiographical exercise that had the sold-out audience eating out of his hands.

The self-proclaimed gentle gay giant from the Midwest has established himself as a talented songwriter. Half his set was from his 2013 CD I’m Blue, Skies, including the lovely ballad “Mr. Lonely Boy,” “Any Day Now,” and the title track. A wonderful “Old Devil Moon,” co-arranged with friend Michael Feinstein, Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Amy Winehouse’s sexy “You Know I’m No Good” give a chance for Jackson to show off his gift for pop stylings. Two highlights were a Diana Krall arrangement of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” and Katy Perry’s pop smash “Teenage Dream.”

Jackson, who wears his heart on his sleeve, opened up on his recent divorce, his battle with alcoholism and his recent losses. His honesty, talent and resiliency endear him all the more to his growing fan base. For a guy who gets wolf whistles just by removing his jacket and rolling up his sleeves, Jackson proves he’s much more than just another pretty face.
